Buford, Racers Edge Head to Daytona for December Test
Twenty-one-year-old Jade Buford, co-driver Jordan Taylor and Racers Edge Motorsports will head to Daytona International Speedway on Tuesday and Wednesday for the two-day GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16 test.
Buford will drive the No. 30 Mazda RX-8, sponsored by IDEMITSU Racing Oil and Cobalt Friction, with Taylor, a two-time Rolex 24 At Daytona participant.
Buford will realize his dream when he steps foot on the grounds of Daytona, which is located only a half hour away from Racers Edge’s team headquarters in DeLand, FL It will mark the first time Buford has ever participated in any type of sanctioned event at Daytona, as he prepares to drive in his first Rolex 24 At Daytona in January.
“I am very excited about this chance to drive with Racers Edge during this week’s test,” Buford said. “Everyone on the team has worked really hard, and I can’t wait to be out on the race track."
Racers Edge team owner Jon Mirachi, who has worked with several talented, young up-and-coming drivers throughout his career, brought Buford into the team’s fold following the 2009 Rolex Series race at Barber Motorsports Park in July. Mirachi coached Buford, who turned times and speeds that would have made him competitive in the previous day’s race. Buford made his Rolex Series debut in September at Miller Motorsports Park, driving with Dane Cameron.
A season after running 10 of 11 races on the GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge circuit in the Street Tuner (ST) division, Buford is scheduled to drive for Racers Edge in 2010 as they unveil the new Ford Mustang GT for the season-opening Continental Tire Challenge race in the Grand Sport (GS) class at Daytona. Buford’s GS co-driver will be Glenn Bocchino, who won the 2008 Continental Tire ST race at Daytona.
Mirachi believes Buford will make a great addition to his team in both cars he drives, and said he looks forward to seeing his efforts this week.
“We’ve seen a lot of progress from Jade since he made his initial appearance at the Barber test with us in July,” Mirachi said. “We feel that, though he is in the early stages of his professional racing career, this is the perfect opportunity for him to show his talent. We led laps and ran up front this season with the RX-8, and Jade should keep us there as he continues to progress.”
Taylor, the son of Rolex Series team owner Wayne Taylor, has competed on and off for Racers Edge, and finished in 10th-place in last year’s Rolex 24 in a Daytona Prototype.

Off Season?? Not for Racers Edge!
After surviving a very demanding and challenging race season - both on and off the track - the Racers Edge team is already looking forward to, and preparing for, the start of the 2010 season.
Outside of a little time off for catching up with friends and family and a somewhat slower pace at the shop, things are pretty much status quo as the team prepares for the 1st race of the new season - the grueling ROLEX 24 hours at Daytona.
The crew has already stripped the car to the frame and has begun the rebuilding process. Each and every component is carefully inspected and rebuilt or replaced, as necessary. A very time consuming task for sure, but one that the mechanics enjoy and offers them an infinite sense of pride as 'their' car crosses the finish line - on it's own - 24 hours later!
While we have personally thanked our sponsors for their support throughout the 2009 season, we'd like to take this opportunity to do it publically, as well. Without the support of companies like 3-Dimensional Services, Cobalt Friction, Idemitsu, Piloti and Mazda, we simply couldn't do it. They are an integral part of our team.
Enjoy the holidays, be safe and we'll see you...at the races!

Racers Edge Tackles Miller With All-Rookie Line Up
Racers Edge Motorsports announced today it will compete with three young, upcoming drivers for the next Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16 event Sept. 19 at Miller Motorsports Park near Salt Lake City, Utah.
Team regular driver Dane Cameron will be joined by fellow rookies Jade Buford and Jordan Taylor, whose combined average age is only 20 years old. They will drive the No. 30 3Dimensional.com/
Team owner Jon Mirachi stated the reasons behind the unusual approach to the event.
"As a team, our heritage has been all about working with young drivers to help advance their careers," Mirachi said. "We try to provide the right atmosphere, input and advice so they can thrive and succeed. We chose these three young men because we believe they all have great talent, desire and the right mental approach to the task.
"I truly believe all three of them are future superstars in our sport," Mirachi said. "As for using three drivers instead of the more customary two, the two-hour, 45-minute format allows adequate time for us to give all three talented young drivers the opportunity to display their abilities."
Cameron has been racing since a young age and has already won numerous races and championships. He has caught the eye and support of Mazda and is a part of their Mazdaspeed Driver Development Ladder to help develop young American driving talent. His first season in the Rolex Series has seen him qualify on the front row and lead several races. He is poised to get his first win at any time.
Taylor has been competing in select Rolex Series Daytona Prototype races this season, but made his debut in the Rolex Series GT class in 2008. Taylor has previously raced and tested with Racers Edge so he knows the team's Mazda RX-8 and the personnel well.
Buford has been racing successfully this season in the Grand-Am KONI Sports Car Challenge. He tested with Racers Edge in July and immediately impressed the team with not only his talent but his thoughtful and professional approach to his first drive in a top level GT car.
"After that test, I knew I had to make the right opportunity happen to get Jade in our car for a race," Mirachi said. "Not only was I impressed with his abundant talent, but he was a complete pleasure to work with. I've been looking forward to his debut race in the series and I'm glad we can provide him with this opportunity."

Racers Edge Finishes on Podium at Watkins Glen
The Racers Edge Motorsports Team took their Mazda RX-8 to Watkins Glen, NY to compete in the 2-hour Grand Am Rolex Series race held there on Friday night. The event, which also holds a round of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, drew a large crowd and the weather was picture perfect for the Grand Am portion of the event. After running strong in practice, qualifying and starting driver Tom Sutherland qualified the car on the front row in the second starting spot with an impressive qualifying run. Tom’s run was so strong that his second and third best laps were also good enough for second starting spot. Then unfortunately, at post qualifying technical inspection, the car’s front splitter height was found to be just a little bit too low. The team’s times were disallowed and the car moved to the back of the starting grid for the race. Despite the disappointment, with a full two-hour race and a strong car and driver line up, the team remained confident they could still win the race.
Once the race got underway, the Racers Edge Motorsports prepared Mazda performed flawlessly as Tom worked his way through the field. Along with Tom’s impressive driving, excellent tire and pit stop strategy by the team helped him progress all the way up to third place by lap 25. On lap 46 Tom turned the car over to co-driver Dane Cameron and the battle up front continued. The racing was intense among the top three, with Dane actually passing for the lead at one point during lap 72, until finally finishing in third place and securing a spot on the podium in victory circle.
While enjoying the post race festivities in victory circle, team owner Jon Mirachi noted how proud he was of his team’s efforts; “Whenever you have to overcome adversity, like starting at the back of the grid, it’s a real measure of the team’s motivation, preparation and character to see how they respond and handle the adversity put in their way. I am really proud of everyone’s efforts as we overcame all obstacles and were in a position to battle for the win over the last green flag run to the finish.”
The team’s next race is in Canada at Montreal, Quebec on August 29th. Look for the team’s red #30 machine to be running up front and challenging for the win! If you can’t attend the race in person, be sure and follow the action live on SPEED TV at 2:00 pm on August 29th.

Jade Buford Impressive in his first ROLEX GT Test
Young, talented race car driver Jade Buford, had his first taste of of a Grand Am Rolex GT car when he tested the Racers Edge Motorsports Mazda RX-8 at Barber Motorsports Park earlier this week. Jade finished fourth in his KONI Sports Car Challenge Series race on Saturday at Barber, then stayed around to participate in the official Rolex Series test on Monday. His first experience consisted of over 50 laps around the challenging Barber track sharing the track with other Rolex Series machines from both the GT and DP (Daytona Prototype) classes.
Team owner and veteran driver coach Jon Mirachi was absolutely impressed by Jade’s day at the wheel of his team’s red #30 machine. “He showed a tremendous level of maturity for such a young driver”, Mirachi commented. “We gave him some homework to do to prepare for the test, he studied it thoroughly and was definitely prepared when he showed up. He took a very methodical approach to his first day in the new car but none the less settled into a comfortable rhythm very quickly. By the fifth lap he was already shifting quickly and smoothly, even though he had never driven a sequential shift race car before. We challenged him with learning left foot braking at the same time, which he hadn’t done before either, and by the end of the test he was out braking even highly experienced, professional Mazda GT drivers!”
“Aside from his abundant talent behind the wheel, Jade was a joy to work with”, continued Mirachi. “At various points during the day we spent time reviewing his driving data from the car’s on board data collection system. He was able to understand my comments and advice for improvement and put it to use on the track. He’s a fine young man with all the right attributes for an aspiring professional driver. I look forward to working with him again in the future.”
Jade, for his part, had a few comments about the experience as well. “That car is amazing! Not only is it really fast, but it was surprisingly easy to drive. I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly the shifting and left foot braking techniques came to me. I was actually comfortable with everything in just a few laps. It was a great learning experience and I look forward to future opportunities to work with Jon and his team.”
Next up for Jade and Racers Edge are plans to do another test with an eye toward racing sometime in the future. In the meantime, Jade will also continue to race his Mini in the KONI Sports Car Challenge Series. Keep an eye on this young man! Jade Buford test with Racers Edge
Young Koni Sports Car Challenge Series driver Jade Buford is set to test for Racers Edge Motorsports next week at Barber Motorsports Park. The test will be an official Rolex Series test at the Birmingham, Alabama race track with other series teams and drivers participating. While Jade has been gathering experience and making a name for himself this season driving a Mini in the KONI Sports Car Challenge Series ST class, the test with Racers Edge is to help further develop his skills in a faster more sophisticated machine and to give him a taste of GT class racing.
Jade feels confident about the test; he’s knows the Barber track extremely well and has been practicing his left foot braking skills on a racing simulator at home. He’s also preparing for the tremendous heat he’ll experience while driving the Mazda racer, since the July temperature and humidity are high in Alabama, Jade can expect to find cockpit temperatures in the GT machine to exceed 140 degrees. Commented Jade; “I really appreciate the opportunity to test with Racers Edge at Barber Motorsports Park. Since this is my home track, it should be the ideal place to get some seat time in their Mazda RX-8 GT car. I’ve seen and heard the RX-8 from trackside and I can't wait to get behind the wheel and experience the performance first hand."
Racers Edge Motorsports has a 20 year history of Road Racing competition with numerous professional race wins and championship titles. They currently compete in the Grand Am Rolex Series GT class in the bright red #30 Mazda RX-8. Among the services they provide and are most proud of, is the development of young talent. Team owner Jon Mirachi already has his eye on Jade and is also looking forward to the test. “I met Jade and his dad when we were at Watkins Glen in June. Jade is the type of young driver I really enjoy working with; he’s immensely talented, extremely motivated and willing to listen. He’s got a great future ahead of him and I hope we can help him to reach his potential.”

Wayne Nonnamaker joins Racers Edge for the Porsche 250 presented by Legacy Credit Union event at Barber Motorsports Park
Wayne Nonnamaker will be broadening his horizons at Barber Motorsports Park for the next event on the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16 circuit, when the two-time KONI Challenge champion co-drives the No. 30 3Dimensional.com Mazda RX-8 with Dane Cameron in the July 19 Porsche 250 presented by Legacy Credit Union.
Nonnamaker is also entered in the No. 43 Team Sahlen Corvette, joining his father Joe, brother Will and sponsor Joe Sahlen on a two-car entry.
"I'm not sure exactly what our plans are going to be down there," Wayne Nonnamaker said. "We will have the Corvettes, but I will also be driving with Dane Cameron in the Racers Edge Mazda. I look at it as broadening our horizons, seeing what options are out there. We've also been with Mazda a long time, in terms of past successes. We started racing Mazdas in '93 and gave the 626 its first victory (at Sebring) in 1999 in the Motorola Cup. So there's a long-term partnership there, and we'll be rekindling an old relationship."
Team Sahlen also competes in the KONI Challenge with a Mazda RX-8 for Sahlen and Will Nonnamaker, although that car is not expected for Barber.
Wayne Nonnamaker is the last to score a solo victory in the Rolex Series, winning back-to-back SGS races at Daytona and Mid-Ohio in 2004. He also is a 13-time winner in the KONI Challenge.
"Racers Edge has been having great qualifying runs lately, and finished fourth at Mid-Ohio," Nonnamaker said. "I'm hoping to have a good race with them at Barber."
Nonnamaker said the team is continuing to develop the Corvette. The team switched from a solid rear axle to an independent suspension this season, and missed the Brumos Porsche 250 to continue engineering work with the rear end of the car.
"We're racing against factory-developed cars," Nonnamaker said. "No one was able to make the solid rear axle work, so we switched to an independent this year and we've been playing catch up."
Wayne is coming off his best finish of the season, 10th with his father at Mid-Ohio. His brother and Sahlen finished 10th in the Sahlen's Six Hours of Watkins Glen.

Racers Edge Adds Ludwig to Sahlen's Six Hour Lineup
Racers Edge Motorsports has added Peter Ludwig as a third driver of the No. 30 Marquis Jet/IPC/Total Mazda RX-8 for Saturday's Six Hours of The Glen at Watkins Glen International, the fifth round of the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16.
Ludwig, who earned his second career Grand-Am KONI Sports Car Challenge victory in March at Homestead-Miami Speedway, will make his fourth career Rolex Series start and first of 2009. His most previous start came with Racers Edge, where he netted a career-best 14th-place finish at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal after starting a career-best eighth.
Ludwig will share the No. 30 with Bryce Miller and Dane Cameron; together, the team regulars earned a season-best eighth in the Bosch Engineering 250 at Virginia International Raceway.
"I'm really excited about this opportunity to race with Jon and the entire Racers Edge team again," Ludwig said. "I raced Star Mazda with Jon in the past and drove his No. 30 Mazda RX-8 last year in Montreal. I could not be in a better place right now - two awesome co-drivers with Bryce and Dane, a well sorted and fast car - all backed by an exceptional team. Man, we have a real shot this weekend. I need to thank everyone for making this come together."
The Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen weekend will begin with practice and qualifying Friday, followed by the 28th edition of the race at 2:15 p.m. Saturday. The race will be broadcasted live on SPEED, with part one running from 2-4 p.m., and part two from 6-8:30 p.m.

Bryce Miller's Watkins Glen Preview
Bryce Miller will have a short commute this week – just a 4.5-hour drive from his home in Summit, N.J., to Watkins Glen, N.Y., where he'll compete in a six-hour Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series race on Saturday. Miller, Dane Cameron (Sonoma, Calif.) and Peter Ludwig (New Paltz, N.Y.) will alternate driving stints in the No. 30 Mazda RX-8 prepared by Racers Edge Motorsports.
Miller believes the Mazda will perform well on the 3.4-mile, 11-turn Watkins Glen International road course.
"The track is a lot of fun! It has lots of high-speed segments and long straightaways where the draft comes into play. That makes for good action on the track, with good passing opportunities and good hard braking zones," he noted.
"I think the Mazda can do really well at that track because of all the high-speed segments. It seems to really like to run in high-speed, sweeping turns, so The Glen will probably be a pretty good track for it."
Miller also likes the six-hour race format, which will require several driver changes and a more complex strategy than the usual series race length of two hours 45 minutes.
"I enjoy the longer races," he acknowledged. "Other than [the Rolex 24 At] Daytona, this is it. There's always more pressure on the team and the drivers, and long races can be a little bit more stressful because so much more can go wrong. But if the results can come together for the team, it makes it really enjoyable."

Bryce Miller races with the support of three international sponsors. Marquis Jet is the recognized leader in private jet cards because it's the only program that offers exclusive access to NetJets – the gold standard in private aviation – 25 hours at a time. IPC Information Systems is a leading provider of mission-critical communications solutions to financial services firms. Total Lubricants is the world's fourth-largest publicly traded integrated international oil and gas company.

BACK TO BACK BATTLES – HOT OFF A TOP-10 FINISH AT VIR, DANE CAMERON AND THE RACERS EDGE TEAM HEAD FOR THE VERIZON WIRELESS 250 AT NEW JERSEY MOTORSPORTS PARK THIS WEEKEND
Running a car that was much more capable than the results showed, the Racers Edge team and driving duo of Dane Cameron and Bryce Miller qualified second on the grid, led the opening laps and ran consistently in the top-5 only to be undone by at the end by a strategy that hinged on the reasonable expectation (given how many yellows punctuated the race) of a late race yellow… only no such yellow appeared. As a result, the podium-capable #30 Racers Edge / Marquis Jet / Total Petroleum / Piloti Mazda RX-8 wound up finishing 8th in the GT class.
"Nobody was happy with the results, but it was still a pretty good race weekend for us," says the rising racing star from Sonoma, California. "It was the first race back after three months off, the first sprint race of the season and we were on pole until the last lap of qualifying when the factory team nipped us by a tenth of a second. We got a good start, took the lead on the first turn of the first lap and led quite a few laps, but there were so many yellow flags that we decided it was best to just run in the top-5 and save the car. We got caught out on our strategy the way things worked out, but the team did a great job and Bryce and I work well together so we're confident about the upcoming races."
Cameron drove first, starting from second on the GT grid, but quickly taking the class lead on the first turn of the first lap on the 3.27-mile road course in Alton, Va. He held the lead five laps and then ran second until his first pitstop, 21 minutes into the two-hour 45-minute race. He returned to the track ninth, then regained seven positions to second. He stopped for fuel during a caution period just before the one-hour mark and was fifth as the race restarted. But the high temperature and a long stint took their toll on the car and tires – Cameron was eighth when he pitted for a driver change with one hour remaining in the race. Miller took over, ninth in class. He was unable to hear or speak to the crew, so he waited for direction on a potential final pit stop. The resourceful crew crafted a sign board to advise Miller to stay on track, enabling him to gain a position to finish eighth.
Cameron, who won in an open-wheel car at VIR in 2007 on his way to the Star Mazda Championship, will co-drive four races in the with a new teammate, Bryce Miller, a young Grand-Am veteran with a record of one victory and 20 top-10 finishes in 27 Rolex Series starts. The next race on the schedule for the Racers Edge team is this weekend's Verizon Wireless 250 at New Jersey Motorsports Park. It’s a facility Cameron is familiar with, having run there in 2008 with the Genoa Racing Atlantic Championship open-wheel team.
"I'm familiar with the layout, which is really quite nice, and they appear to have done a lot of work since last year, with grass and curbing to reduce the dust that was such a problem last year," says Cameron. "It's still early in the season, but we've been fast everywhere we've raced and tested, and we have some development stuff from VIR that we'll carry on developing here, so it should be good. In addition, this in Bryce's home race, so he'll have lots of sponsors at the event and we're hoping for a strong finish in the race."
Cameron arrived at this point in his career via an accomplished climb up the open-wheel ladder. Driving for Genoa Racing in the ultra-competitive 2008 Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda, Cameron started from the pole once and scored two podiums and five top-5 finishes, finishing seventh in the championship during his rookie season.
In 2007, he was both series champion and Rookie of the Year in the Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear with three wins, six pole positions, five podium finishes and two top-5s. In 2006, Cameron was the Rookie of the Year and finished second in the F2000 championship and, as a Team USA Scholarship driver, he won the 2006 Palmer Audi Winter Championship in Europe. In 2005, he was the SCCA Formula Jim Russell Series champion and Rookie of the Year. His karting career, beginning in 2000, was similarly successful, including the 2003 Jim Russell Karting 80cc Junior Shifter Championship and a 2004 finalist in the Red Bull Driver Search. Cameron's long-time personal sponsors include the Finlay Motorsports Driver Development Program, Lynx Racing, Rett.org, Nearburg Exploration and Sparco USA.
Racers Edge is a former Star Mazda team that won back-to-back championships in 2002 with Guy Cosmo and 2003 with Luis Schiavo before moving up to the Grand-Am series in 2007. Under the guidance of President, Team Manager (and former driver) Jon Mirachi, Racers Edge has established itself as one of the premier teams in North American road racing with substantial achievements in both open wheel racing and sports cars. In the 2007 Grand-Am Rolex GT series, Racers Edge led three races, scoring five top-5 and ten top-10 finishes. In 2008, racing the same Mazda RX-8 they will field this season, the team again led three races and scored three top-10 finishes.
This weekend is Round 3 of the 2009 season, the Verizon Wireless 250 at the 2.25-mile New Jersey Motorsports Park track. On-track action begins with several practice sessions on Friday, May 1, with qualifying to set the Grand Am Rolex Series GT-class grid scheduled for 2:10 pm to 2:25 pm Saturday, May 2. The Verizon Wireless Grand Am Rolex Series event is scheduled to take the green flag at 1:00 pm Sunday, May 3. The race will be broadcast live on SPEED TV.

Dane Cameron said he was excited to be competing with Bryce Miller during last month's Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16 test at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
The excitement should transfer over to this weekend as both drivers will compete together for the first time in a race, as they will drive the No. 30 Racers Edge Motorsports Mazda RX-8 in Saturday's Bosch Engineering 250 at Virginia International Raceway, Round 2 of 12 of the 2009 Rolex Series season.
Cameron began the season with Racers Edge and three other drivers - Doug Petersen, Dion von Moltke and Jordan Taylor - in the Rolex 24 At Daytona. Together, the quartet finished 13th.
Meanwhile, Miller competed for the TRG/Riegel/Stanton team at Daytona, finishing 21st in the No. 65 Porsche GT3 he co-piloted with Craig Stanton, John Potter and Marco Holzer.
The signing of Miller for the next four races, including VIR, gives Racers Edge one of its best chances for victory yet, or at least a strong finish. Two seasons ago, Miller and Dirk Werner gave Farnbacher Loles Racing victory at VIR.
"This package makes us a formidable contender for points," Miller said. "I always had my eye on this team. The pace of the Racers Edge Mazda has been demonstrated and their preparation consistently proven. Jon [Mirachi, team owner] and I had lightly entertained the idea of a drive over the last couple of seasons, but this time around our discussions segued into serious negotiations."
The long 3.27-mile road course in Alton, Va., should suit the Mazda well. When Miller's Porsche took the checkered flag in 2007, a Mazda followed in second place.
"We should do well with the Mazda at VIR," Miller said. "I enjoy the rhythm of the track and all the different combinations of turns and speed it offers. I imagine gearing and tire preservation will be very important for the rotary engine and the smaller tires allocated to the Mazda."
The two-hour, 45-minute or 250-mile Bosch Engineering 250 will begin at 2:30 p.m. ET Saturday. The race will be televised live on SPEED.

Bryce Miller's VIR Preview
Bryce Miller will return to the site of his first Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series victory this week. The Summit, N.J., driver topped the GT class at Virginia International Raceway in 2007. He will be looking for another strong finish on Saturday, driving the No. 30 Marquis Jet Mazda RX-8 with Dane Cameron of Sonoma, Calif. The race will be Miller's first with Racers Edge Motorsports, a team he has been watching for several years.
“This package makes us a formidable contender for points," Miller said. "I always had my eye on this team. The pace of the Racers Edge Mazda has been demonstrated and their preparation consistently proven. Jon [Mirachi, team owner] and I had lightly entertained the idea of a drive over the last couple of seasons, but this time around our discussions segued into serious negotiations.”
The team and drivers synched quickly at a series test at Homestead-Miami Speedway in Florida last month. Miller recorded the second-fastest GT lap on the first day, during his first stint in the Mazda.
“I’ve only logged a few hours in the Mazda at the official Grand-Am Homestead test. We posted the second fastest time in my first-ever 10 laps in a car I’m still learning about. That is certainly a testament to the team’s development that they could roll out such a strong baseline setup I could be comfortable with, " Miller noted.
“I am excited for VIR – it is where I had my first Grand-Am Rolex victory and I know we will be able to compete with Racers Edge standing behind Dane and me.”
The long 3.27-mile road course in Alton, Va., should suit the Mazda: When Miller's Porsche took the checkered flag in 2007, a Mazda followed in second place."
We should do well with the Mazda at VIR," Miller said. "I enjoy the rhythm of the track and all the different combinations of turns and speed it offers. I imagine gearing and tire preservation will be very important for the rotary engine and the smaller tires allocated to the Mazda.”

Back into battle
After a long, long time between races, it could fairly be said that rising star Dane Cameron and the Racers Edge Motorsports team is literally itchin' to go racing. And their next opportunity comes up this weekend at Round 2 of the 2009 Grand Am Rolex Sports Car series season, the Bosch Engineering 250 at Virginia International Raceway.
Cameron, who won in an open-wheel car at VIR in 2007 on his way to the Star Mazda Championship, will co-drive four races in the #30 Racers Edge / Marquis Jet / Total Petroleum / Piloti Mazda RX-8 with a new teammate, Bryce Miller, a young Grand-Am veteran with a record of one victory and 20 top-10 finishes in 27 Rolex Series starts. Cameron also has some recent 'tin-top' experience at the challenging 17-turn, 3.27-mile circuit; he ran a 6-hour Koni Challenge race there at the end of the 2008 season. And his driver coaching duties for the championship-winning JDC Motorsports Star Mazda Championship team had him spending quality time at the circuit as late as last week.
"I'm very happy to be going racing again after such a long layoff, particularly with it being a sprint race instead of an endurance event like Daytona," says the rising star from Sonoma, California. "And although I'm sorry that my co-driver from Daytona, Doug Petersen, won't be sharing the car with me, I'm happy to share the driving with Bryce. We've tested together and he's fast and we like the car set up the same way and work well together. The track is long and fast with some technical sections, but overall it flows very well and is a real pleasure to drive. We ran the Grand-Am series test several weeks ago and were easily among the fastest of the GT cars, so I think we have a good chance of a strong finish at VIR.
" In Round 1 of the 2009 season, the Rolex 24 at Daytona, the Racers Edge team persevered through electrical problems and a sudden illness that sidelined one of the drivers to become the second GT-Class Mazda RX-8 to cross the finish line after 647 laps and twice-around-the-clock. The team finished 13th in the GT class (24th overall) in a starting field of 49 cars. Cameron turned a lap of 1:50.290 (95.937 mph) on lap 210, a figure that stood as the fastest race lap until the closing stages of the event, and wound up as the second-fastest lap turned by a GT car during the entire 24 hours.
In the 2007 Grand-Am Rolex GT series, Racers Edge led three races, scoring five top-5 and ten top-10 finishes In 2008, racing the same Mazda RX-8 they will field this season, the team again led three races and scored three top-10 finishes.

Racers Edge signs Bryce Miller for next four races
Veteran Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16 driver Bryce Miller will compete in the next four races, and perhaps the remainder of the season, for Racers Edge Motorsports, team owner Jon Mirachi said Friday.
Miller will replace Doug Peterson, who signed with the team last season, and drive with Dane Cameron starting in next month's Bosch Engineering 250 at Virginia International Raceway. Peterson is taking some time off to concentrate on business commitments but may return later this season.
With one victory and 20 top-10 finishes in 27 Rolex Series starts, Miller will compete for the first time in the Rolex Series in a Mazda RX-8. Mirachi said he had sought Miller in the past, but the timing didn't work out between the two New Jersey parties until now.
"He is the guy we wanted to drive our car," Mirachi stated. "We set out this year to escalate our program to the next level and in order to do that, we needed a driver with Bryce's speed and experience to complete our lineup and get us into victory lane. As you might imagine, this is a dream come true for me - to have these two young drivers with so much talent in our car!"
Team and drivers will get their first chance to work together in next week's two-day test session at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The test begins at 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 24, and both days are open to the public for free.
"We're really looking forward to it," Mirachi concluded. "Bryce has a wealth of testing experience which will really help with the technical development of our Mazda RX-8. Since the Rolex 24, the crew has rebuilt the entire car and developed some changes to the suspension. Dane has already racked up extensive pre-season testing miles, so his feedback will really help put the new changes in perspective while the fresh input from Bryce with his previous testing experience will also be invaluable.

Racers Edge announces plans to add KONI Sports Car Challenge effort to their existing Grand-Am Rolex GT program.
Racers Edge Motorsports today announced the team’s plans to add a KONI Sports Car Challenge effort to compliment their existing, successful Grand Am Rolex GT program. Team owner Jon Mirachi indicated that based on last year’s initial experience assisting other KONI Series teams with technical and pit stop support, his team was impressed with the highly competitive on-track action and the solid business opportunity the KONI Sports Car Challenge Series can provide. “Last season we got our feet wet, we liked what we saw, and now we’d like to be more directly involved in an entire program” Mirachi stated. “Our experience with and knowledge of Grand Am along with our location in the Daytona Beach area make growing our Grand Am program with a KONI Challenge effort a natural choice for expansion”.
The team is now seeking qualified, funded drivers or is willing to take over an existing program that is looking to benefit from the outsourcing of overhead, technical capabilities and the solid team management operations of a successful championship winning race team. Interested parties in either a GS or ST class effort should contact Jon Mirachi directly at: jon@racersedgemotorsports.com or (386) 626-2323
