MEET OUR KEY PERSONNEL
Team Owner / Team Manager
A degree in Automotive Technology, 23 years of race driving experience, and 12 years of business training in an automotive dealership provided an excellent background for race team management. Since founding the Racers Edge team in 1990, Jon’s role has evolved to where his current primary responsibility in the shop is marketing programs, business development and overall management, while his role at the track is that of the team’s driver coach. He's the point of contact for our arrive and drive, customer racing programs. Nothing gives him more pride than seeing the growth and success of the other staff members and drivers. When not working at racing, Jon enjoys fitness activities and is a certified personal trainer.
Team Engineer & Gear Box Specialist
Growing up karting with his family, Jim raced karts successfully for several years which allowed him to learn the fundamentals of vehicle dynamics. He joined Racers Edge in 2002 at only 18 years of age. Since then, he's studied racecar engineering to emerge as a highly skilled and race winning engineer. At the shop, he oversees operations and manages the staff. While at the events, Jim is responsible for the team’s pit stop strategy and during pit stops he's an excellent over-the-wall crew man.
Doug Van Klompenburg
Team Engineer & Spotter
Doug began working on his family's racecars at just 15 years old. Since then, he has obtained over four decades of real word experience in engineering, business, racecar development and race team management. His expertise has been sought by teams in all forms of racing including NASCAR, USAC, IndyCar, ARCA and IMSA. When he's not in the pits with Racers Edge wearing his engineer's hat, he can be found at the top of the tower wearing his spotter's hat. Personally, Doug has competed in the USAC Midget and Silver Crown series and is currently operating a competition engine shop in Columbus, IN.
